Privacy Policy

Stem ("Stem", "we", "us") is a mobile application that connects job candidates with companies for short-term contract and gig work through a two-sided matching experience. Stem is operated by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Contact ip.sam23@gmail.com.
Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the matching service:
- Account information: your email address, a securely hashed password, and your role (candidate or company).
- Profile information: for candidates — name, title, bio, skills, hourly rate, location, availability, and optional links (GitHub, LinkedIn, website); for companies — company name, industry, description, size, and location.
- Uploaded content: profile photos, company logos, project images, and résumé files (PDF or Word) that you choose to upload.
- Messages: chat messages exchanged with your matches.
- Activity: swipes, matches, saved jobs, blocked users, reviews, and reports you submit.
- Device token: a push-notification token, so we can send you match and message alerts.
- Calendar (optional): with your permission, we add interview events to your device calendar. We do not read your calendar.
- Biometrics: if you enable Face ID / fingerprint unlock, it is handled entirely on your device by your operating system. We never receive or store biometric data.
We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and profile.
- To power the matching experience — showing your profile to potential matches and theirs to you.
- To enable chat, interviews, and hiring workflows between matched users.
- To send notifications you have opted into (matches, messages, interview reminders).
- To maintain safety (handling blocks, reports, and abuse).
How information is shared
Matching is inherently two-sided: your profile information and uploaded content are shown to the candidates or companies you may match with. We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the infrastructure providers that operate the service on our behalf:
- Database & hosting — to store account and profile data.
- Cloudflare R2 — to store uploaded files (résumés are kept private and accessed only through short-lived, signed links).
- Email provider — to send transactional emails such as password-reset codes.
- Expo push service — to deliver notifications.
Data security
Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/WSS). Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure keychain. Résumés are stored privately and served only via time-limited signed URLs.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), which removes your profile, content, messages, and activity. You can also email ip.sam23@gmail.com to request deletion.
Children
Stem is intended for users aged 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your rights
You can access and update your information in the app, and delete your account as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data; contact us to exercise them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
