These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PlateWise mobile application ("PlateWise", "the app"). By downloading, installing, or using PlateWise, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
PlateWise is a meal-planning, recipe, and pantry-tracking tool. It uses AI to recognize ingredients from photos you take, suggest recipes, and generate meal plans. Some features are free; some require a paid subscription (see Section 3).
You can use PlateWise without creating an account. If you choose to use Household features, you will create an account with your email address and a password.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app. Deletion is permanent: it removes your authentication record, household memberships, and any data you shared to a household, and erases local data on your device. Deleting your account does not cancel any active App Store subscription; you must cancel the subscription separately (see Section 3).
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, abuse our services, or otherwise act in a way that harms PlateWise or other users.
PlateWise offers two auto-renewing subscription plans, collectively called PlateWise Pro:
Prices are shown in the app at the time of purchase and may vary by country or be subject to applicable taxes.
New subscribers who have not previously used a PlateWise Pro trial on their Apple ID are offered a 7-day free trial. You are not charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription begins and the plan price is charged to your Apple ID.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase (or, for subscribers with a free trial, at the end of the trial period). Prices and terms are shown in the app at the time of purchase.
Your subscription renews automatically for the same duration and at the same price at the end of each billing period, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iOS device, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current billing period.
Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription during the trial.
Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. Refund requests should be submitted at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot process refunds directly.
PlateWise includes optional Household features that let members share pantry items, recipes, meal logs, and cooking activity with each other. Content shared to a Household (including activity posts and recipe titles) is user-generated content.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You agree not to post content that is illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise objectionable. You agree not to impersonate others or use the Household feature to harm other members.
Reporting: You can report any post in the Household activity feed by tapping the flag icon on the post, which opens an email to platewise.support@gmail.com. We will review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts within 24 hours.
Blocking and removing members: Household owners can remove any member from their Household directly in the app (Household screen → tap the × next to a member). Removed members lose access to that Household's shared data immediately. Any member can leave a Household at any time.
We reserve the right to remove content and terminate accounts that violate these Terms at our discretion and without notice.
You should consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes, especially if you have a medical condition, food allergies, are pregnant or nursing, or take medication. Recipes, calorie estimates, macronutrient breakdowns, and health-goal suggestions are approximations based on public sources (USDA FoodData Central, NIH Dietary Reference Intakes, and Mayo Clinic resources) and may not match your individual needs. You assume all risk for any dietary decisions you make based on the app.
PlateWise and its content (excluding user-generated pantry items, recipes, and meal plans you create) are owned by us and protected by applicable laws. You retain rights to content you create. By sharing content to a Household, you grant other household members a limited, revocable licence to view and use that content within PlateWise for household-sharing purposes.
Your use of PlateWise is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what we collect and how we use it.
PlateWise is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of PlateWise after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If the change is material, we will give notice in the app.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in Ontario, Canada.
