Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PlateWise ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the PlateWise mobile application. By using PlateWise, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect and why

PlateWise collects only what is necessary to make the app work. Each row below lists the data, why we collect it, and the third party (if any) that receives it.

PlateWise does not collect: advertising identifiers, location, contacts, browsing history, sensor data, Apple HealthKit data, call logs, or financial information beyond what Apple shares with us for subscription validation.

2. Third parties we share information with

Supabase — authentication and database. Privacy policy

Anthropic (Claude) — AI processing of scan images and recipe prompts, via our Cloudflare Worker. Anthropic's API terms state that input and output are not used to train their models. Privacy policy

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with advertisers.

3. Data retention

4. Your rights, including the right to delete

You can exercise the following rights from inside the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account:

Delete your account. This permanently removes your Supabase authentication record, all household memberships, and any pantry, shopping-list, recipe, or meal-plan data you shared to a household. Our database uses cascade-delete on the user ID, so no orphaned personal data remains. The action also wipes all PlateWise data stored locally on your device, including pantry items, recipes, meal plans, and preferences.
Access and export. Email us at the address below and we will provide a copy of your Supabase records within 30 days.
Correct or update. Edit most information directly in the app (Profile → Dietary Preferences, Allergies, etc.).

Subscriptions: active PlateWise Pro subscriptions are managed by the App Store and must be cancelled separately at Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device. Deleting your PlateWise account does not cancel your subscription or refund prior payments.

5. Children's privacy

PlateWise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

6. Medical information disclaimer

Nutritional information, meal plans, macronutrient calculations, calorie targets, and health-goal suggestions shown in PlateWise are provided for general informational purposes only. They are not medical advice and are not a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. Do not use PlateWise to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Always talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian before making significant dietary changes, especially if you have a medical condition, food allergies, are pregnant or nursing, or take medication. Nutrition estimates in PlateWise reference the USDA FoodData Central, NIH Dietary Reference Intakes, and Mayo Clinic resources; individual nutritional needs vary.

7. International users

PlateWise is operated from Canada. If you use the app from outside Canada, your information will be transferred to and processed in Canada, the United States (where our third-party processors are located), and any country in which those processors operate. By using PlateWise you consent to that transfer.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the change is material, we will give notice in the app before it takes effect.
